The Beach
Sand in your toes and shoes.
The ocean swayed back and forth.
The sun is shining down.
The wind was blowing so soft and not hard.
It’s a very calm day that you wish would pause at that point of time.
But you can’t. Time has to come forward.
But for the littlest time does pause.
And everything is perfect.
But it unpauses and you’re not at the beach anymore, you’re driving away.
Far away from the beach that you loved so much.
Your dream didn’t come true and now you’re in reality, missing the beach that you loved so much.
That you would do anything just to go back to that same beach.
*The following poem is based on a Chinese and Japanese legend where koi fish will go upstream to go to the dragon gate to turn into dragons.*
Koi fish
There were two koi fish in a pond.
One was red and white.
The other one black and orange.
They swim in the same pond.
One was old while the other was young.
One day, the koi fish were going to leave their own home.
But the young one and the old one stayed.
The other koi fish went to the dragon gate to turn into dragons.
But the young and the old koi fish stayed behind.
The young one stayed behind with the old one because he could not go.
Because he was too old to jump the river to get to the dragon gates.
The young one stayed with the older one till the day it died.
Then it would go up the streams and become a dragon, like what the old koi fish wanted him to do.
