Drama department to present ‘Best of the Bard’
Mark your calendars for Nov. 5 through Nov. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the ALHS auditorium. This year’s play is called “Best of the Bard.” Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults and tickets are available at the door.
“The play is a mixture of many Shakespearean pieces including scenes, monologue, and sonnets he has written. We have narrators giving a short synopsis in modern words to help the audience understand the Shakespearean world,” said junior Sicilia Liwai, who is playing the nurse and also a gentlewoman.
There have been many different challenges that the play has brought, but the actors and actresses have learned to push through them.
“We all learned that we need to keep going even though the language is different, and even if we are struggling with something. We just had to learn to keep going through the motions, even if it’s tough,” said sophomore Grace Ozzello, who is playing Juliet and Artemidorus.
If you have never seen Shakespeare, this play may pleasantly surprise you.
“Everyone seems to think Shakespeare is boring and dull, but if they’ve ever seen it acted out then I think they would realize that there’s still something that can be related to each individual. Even if you think you can’t relate, it’s still fun to know how many popular sayings from Shakespeare can be recognized,” said Liwai.
Don’t forget to come out and support the AL Drama department.
“I think this show is pretty cool and I know everyone in it has been working hard on it. Please come and support the Abraham Lincoln Drama department on November 7th, 8th, and 9th at 7 pm in the auditorium!” said Liwai.
