The new animated “The Grinch” was released in movie theaters in November 2018, but is now available to watch at home on YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, and Amazon Prime. This movie is based on Dr. Seuss’s holiday classic, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Universal Pictures took some of the same elements from the older one and brought them into the new one. Even though they kept the same elements they definitely made some improvements.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie made about $270.6 million. 60% (120 people) of people would recommend it and they gave it about 50% (of 12,922 people) for the audience score.

The movie is animated so actors also have to be animated with their voices to make sure they fit their characters. The movie is written by Micheal LeSieur, Tommy Swerdlow. The stars are Benedict Cumberbatch (The Grinch), Cameron Seely (Cindy Lou), and Rashida Jones (Donna Lou). 

This film, as you probably know, is about the Grinch trying to steal Christmas. He goes on multiple tasks and little missions to help him get to where he wants to be. But that all changes when he meets a special girl, Cindy Lou Who. His heart starts to change for the better once he meets her. 

The movie had many different songs throughout the storyline. They did a great job of making each song fit into the story. The movie is perfect for anyone who loves bright, bold colors. They do a good job keeping up with the animation. They make the characters and the setting/background look so realistic. Sometimes you can get lost in the story having the background be too big and bold but I don’t think this happens with this story. 

The Grinch lives inside of a cave on Mt. Crumpet with his handy dog, Max. Max is where he gets most of his company. The cave is filled with inventions and contraptions that help him with his daily needs. The Grinch manages to only see his neighbors in the town of Whoville when he runs out of food. Each year people who live in Whoville have bigger, brighter, and louder celebrations for Christmas in the hope to change the Grinch’s mind.

They had a lot of good and funny scenes throughout the movie. One favorite scene was when he was working out to start getting ready to steal all the Christmas presents from people. 

Another great scene is when the Grinch finally realizes the true meaning of Christmas.

I think this movie is great for a family movie night and especially great for anyone who loves the old Grinch and wants to see some improvements. I would recommend it for younger kids or for big families. Overall, this movie is great for everyone. So grab some popcorn and get to watching! I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
