Kylee Koenig excels in athletics and extracurricular activities

One of Nebraska Red Dawgs and Abraham Lincoln’s most valuable players is this week’s Online Echoes Lynx of the Week, sophomore Kylee Koenig. Kylee Koenig may be known in ALHS as a star of LPTV but she is also a basketball star for her club team over in Omaha.

The Nebraska Red Dawgs is a part of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) and they were the national team of the month in Jan. through the association.

“I wanted to play basketball because I have an interest in sports. It’s harder for disabled people to get involved, but I found out about the Nebraska Red Dawgs through an adaptive sports camp over the summer. I’ve found a love for it because I’ve been able to bond with a lot of kids who have all had to go through tough things with their disability and we can all relate to things.”

Koenig is most proud of her effort in her team’s conference tournament where her team won against the Iowa team.

“We typically play around 3 games on a Saturday. Afterwards we get dinner and then hang out in the lobby and have quite a bit of down time for bonding.”

On top of her involvement in basketball Koenig is also highly active in activities at Abraham Lincoln High School, such as JROTC, Broadcasting, Iowa Youth Congress, CyberPatriots, and Robotics.
