Just last Friday ALHS had our graduation for the class of 2024. Seniors typically are very excited to leave high school and continue their own adventures but what other emotions come along with graduation, so what did our graduates have to say, and what plans do they have now?
Tessica Burke plans to go and study Psychology at Iowa State, to be a neuropsychologist.
“It’s so surreal, waiting for this moment for so long and now it’s finally here…it went by so much faster than I expected,” Burke said.
Valeria Martinez will attend Creighton University and major in biology. After that, her goal is to go back to Creighton’s dental school and become a general dentist.
“I feel happy but sad about leaving friends behind,” said Martinez.
Sylvia Stott’s goals include becoming a P.E. teacher and possibly coaching.
“I’m sad to leave behind friends but I’m super excited to go to ISU,” said Stott.
Presley Patten will start at Iowa Western and transfer to UNO for foreign language.
“It’s bittersweet, I will miss everyone and mostly look back on it in a positive way. It still hasn’t fully processed in my mind,” Patten said.
Jordan Knowlton will attend SOHO to be a hairstylist at her own salon.
“It’s so weird, it’s not like it feels different as much as you still feel like you have to go to school still or even go to school so you can play in your next game coming up without being not eligible because you didn’t go,” Knowlton said.
We’ve all had childhood dreams however that’s not always what we end up doing. When some think of a childhood dream job they tend to think of astronauts, movie stars, and doctors, but what did our graduates once dream of doing? Some of them dreamed of being chefs, movie directors, and vets. While others wanted to be photographers and surgeons. No matter where they planned on being as a kid or where they are today we wish them well on their endeavors. #LynxOut
