The Abraham Lincoln Dance team is holding their annual dance clinic on Saturday, Sept. 30. The clinic is for Pre-K through 8th grade students interested in the sport. At the camp, dancers will learn different techniques and will be given the opportunity to perform at the AL vs. Johnston football game Oct. 6.
Dance coach Rachel Neill loves getting the chance to work with students from the feeder elementary schools and helping them be a part of the game-day experience.
“It’s fun to expose them to what it’s like to be a member of the AL Dance Team,” said Neill. “We love to go out to the elementary schools and Kirn to distribute flyers and talk to the students about the clinic and hopefully getting them excited about being a part of the team when they get to high school.”
Junior dancer Ella Schmitz enjoys getting to help teach the sport she loves wiith a variety of kids at different age groups.
“The clinic teaches younger dancers what dance team is like. It shows them how fun it can be. Even if you are unsure if dance is for you, just try it. Even if it doesn’t work out, it will be a fun learning experience.”
