After a jam-packed season the NHL Stanley Cup finals are here and it has so far brought fans an interesting match up.
In the Eastern Conference the Carolina Hurricanes are the champions after beating the Montreal Canadiens in a 4-1 series leaving them to move on to the finals. In the Western Conference the Vegas Golden Knights are the champions after sweeping the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Colorado Avalanche in a 4-0 series.
Many fans are looking forward to seeing which team is better and will take home the cup so let’s see what each team is bringing to the finals. The Hurricanes so far has been a hard team to beat due to them having an amazing goaltender Frederick Anderson with a 1.41 GAA and .931 save percentage which has really helped the team. They also have a great first and backup line that has really shown to be a powerhouse with getting the puck and keeping it out of their own area.
The Vegas Golden Knights have been a team that not many expected but has been very interesting throughout the playoffs. The Knights have brought a high offense that has been anchored by Mitch Marner and Jack Eichel and has a top-unit power play. So far the Vegas Knights have scored 22 high-danger goals in 5-on-5 situations and it seems to have been an important factor in them sweeping the Avalanche.
So far the odds for winning the Stanley Cup is in favor for the Carolina Hurricanes due to the fact that the Hurricanes have only lost one game in the entire playoffs and seems to have been really strong when it came to the playoffs compared to the normal series. It also helps that this would be the Hurricanes first time in the finals since 2006 which fans love.
In a previous article from ALEchoes linked here, I was able to successfully predict that the Hurricanes and the Knights were strong Stanley cup final contenders even before the normal season started. This prediction was due to how well the teams played last season and who they were bringing to the table.
The Stanley Cup finals are underway after starting on Tuesday June 2nd with a win for each team leaving the series tied at 1-1. Make sure to tune in to this intense seven game series where both teams are willing to do whatever it takes to lift the Stanley cup above their heads.
