We wake up in the morning and autopilot kicks in. Most of us have a daily morning routine and the rest don’t. The question is: are morning routines actually important, or are they just an accessory for life?
School Operations Manager, David Price, believes that his morning routine is important and helps keep him together.
“I have about seven or eight alarms that go off in the morning,” said Price. “My first alarm goes off at three forty-two and then I get up and I do some type of workout, whether it’s trampoline rebounding, jogging, or some type of weights; that’s how I start my day before school. I think morning routines are important because you’re gonna wake up someday and you’re not gonna have the motivation to do something, so having that discipline to do the same thing every day, I think that’s good for everyone.”
Student Emmarie Taylor shares her thoughts on morning routines and how her changes still happen.
“If I don’t have morning practice, then I wake up, make my bed, get dressed, and then I use the bathroom to brush my teeth, I pack my bag and then I leave,” said Taylor. “It depends on the person if they are important or not. Half of the week I don’t do my morning routine, like the days we don’t have practice I just get up and leave.”
Student Caitlyn Adkins speaks on how she thinks morning routines are important and help her keep her day aligned.
“I wake up and sit on my bed and procrastinate, I watch a few TikToks and sometimes I go back to sleep,” said Adkins. “I get up and choose my outfit for the day, I take my dog out, do my skincare and makeup, my hair, my teeth, and I take my pill. Sometimes I eat but then I’ll leave. I think morning routines could be important. It would probably help me if I had an official one. I still get everything done, I just procrastinate. When I stay in too long, I have a tough time throughout the day. I’m tired and I don’t do everything before I leave.”
Morning routines keep us in check and make sure we are prepared for our day and to make sure it will go smoothly. Some people don’t have them and it might not be all that bad, but it might be a little bit better to have some autopilot in our lives.
