With the weather changing there are many activities people look forward to. Fall has amazing weather and plenty of fun to go with it.
Pumpkin patches are a staple of the fall weather, many pumpkin patches in the Council Bluffs area offer different attractions. There is a wide variety of small pumpkin patches like Welches pumpkin patch and orchard located on Sunnydale road, that offers not only pumpkins but an orchard with fresh apples. There are also large attractions like Valas Pumpkin Patch and Orchard in Gretna, Nebraska that offer haunted houses, train rides and plenty of dining options.
According to a survey conducted by ALEchoes, 14 out of 20 students from AL love Pumpkin patches and see them as a fall staple.
Are you a thrill seeker? Do you enjoy scary movies and adrenaline rushes? Haunted houses are a fan favorite and go hand in hand with Halloween. One attraction being Madness Haunted House is located on Pioneer Trail, outside of Council Bluffs.

Hillside House of Hell is located on Green Street in Glenwood, Iowa. It is Iowa’s largest haunted house, originally built in 1964, the abandoned asylum has been converted into the current haunted house, which contains 50,000 square feet of scares under one roof.
According to the previously mentioned survey, 7 out of 20 students at AL enjoy visiting haunted houses.
With fall coming pumpkin spice is in full swing. Pumpkin spice lattes are a fan favorite and are found at many local coffee shops. Pumpkin pie is another seasonal sweet treat and is especially popular on Thanksgiving. Pumpkin dishes have been eaten in the fall for hundreds of years making them largely associated with the fall season.
According to the survey, students gave pumpkin spice an average rating of 3.5 out of 5, and pumpkin pie an average of 4 out of 5. AL students also included their favorite fall foods and drinks. Students also enjoy apple cider, apple cider doughnuts, pumpkin bread, cinnamon rolls and so much more.
So with the weather changing, lookout for fun activities to do with friends and plenty of fall snacks and foods.
