Principal Dr. Rachel Bruce-Sagert has received the Iowa Family Consumer Science Educators Administrator of the year award. The IFCSE award is an annual award given to the Administrator who has shown the most support toward the Family Consumer Science program. ALHS features Family Career and Community Leaders of America, FCCLA is advised by educator Jana Georgius who wrote a letter of recommendation nominating Dr. Bruce for this award.
“Dr. Rachel Bruce Sagert’s commitment, integrity, and impactful leadership make her an exemplary candidate for Administrator of the Year for the IFCSE organization,” said Mrs. Georgius. “She is a transformative leader who not only meets expectations but consistently exceeds them, leaving a lasting, positive mark on every student and staff member she encounters.”
Dr. Bruce began as Abraham Lincoln’s principal in July of 2025. In her time at AL she has supported the FCCLA program with events like Night with Santa; she also helped with attendance for events and fundraising.
“It was such a nice surprise to learn that I was chosen for this award. I’m truly honored that Mrs. Georguis thought of nominating me,” said Dr. Bruce. “Each day, I am impressed by the tireless dedication of Mrs. Georguis and Ms. Cunningham, they don’t just teach curriculum; they build great relationships with students and provide them with opportunities to build their skills while having fun. It’s important to me as a principal that our teachers and staff feel and know they are supported.”
