As the school year comes to an end, 2026 graduates have begun to sign off into college. Many students committed to colleges such as UNO, Iowa Western, Iowa, Iowa State, and UNI. Students have signed for various things whether it’s just academics or activities such as soccer, basketball, dance, band, and many more.
“I signed to the University of Iowa, I’m doing it for academics,” Lexie Nelson said. “I’m most looking forward to meeting lots of new people and getting outside of my bubble.”
College has a different atmosphere from high school, especially the schedule and the larger campus with more people.
“I’m going to miss having the same schedule every day, not only classes but, like, you see your same friends at the same time everyday,” Nelson said.
AL offers many different pathways and our school has many counselors that are willing to help students decide what college will fit them best.
“I chose Morningside because it was a comfortable size, nothing too crazy and it wasn’t a big campus.” Logan Mower said. “They offer a program for people that are undecided like me.”
Some students are nervous about this transition, for example, many students will be leaving states and their friends which will be hard. On the other hand, some students choose to go to the same college with their friends.
“I signed to Morningside, I’m most excited about playing tennis and I chose Morningside because of my friend Logan,” Senior Hunter Albertus said. “I think the hardest part will be going to a different school in a different town.”
