Coming off a season with a winning 5-4 record, their first winning season since 2020, the Lynx look to repeat and improve off of last season’s bright spots under third year head coach Peter Kilburg.
“We’re happy with where we’re at in our third year progression.” Kilburg said. “When I first took over we kind of had a long-term goal in mind with where AL football had been at the last couple of years, and we’re starting to see some of that come to fruition.”
AL won’t be at the highest returning levels though, as their leader passer and rusher in Etienne Higgins, along with top three pass catchers Isaiah Lusajo, Cael Hansen and Aiden Sandbothe all graduated.
Coach Kilburg doesn’t expect this to be an issue though, as he says they have no problems to stress over.
“Frontline-wise we return three starters for sure, and a fourth guy who was mixed and started some games that got a lot of playing time throughout the season, and we feel like that is our anchor this year,” Kilburg said. “Andre (Rogers) just behind Etienne last year in rushing yards, we are going to lean heavily on the run game because we trust him, and trust that O-Line.”
The Lynx begin their season at home against the LeMars Bulldogs on Aug. 29, and are ready to take on the challenges ahead this season with Lynx Legion support behind them.
“We really appreciate the student section,” senior Grant Hughey said. “The surges of energy and chants keep us motivated and upbeat when we’re on the field. I don’t know what we would do without the support from our fans.”
