This year’s Abraham Lincoln boys and girls soccer teams are introducing some new changes. Alexander Day and Madison Sola are stepping it up to become the head coaches for both teams.
The boys team and girls team both look forward to this new change and the exciting new season. Day and Sola have both already been assistant coaches for a while, but are taking the new position as head coaches for the teams.
“I think Sola was an amazing assistant coach, so I’m excited to see what she does this year,” Sophomore Marisol Tatum-Silva said.
Sola is looking forward to seeing what the girls will accomplish this new season. She wants to continue to see growth between the players and create a good relationship with the team. Sola was a JV coach and assistant varsity coach for 2 years as well as co-head coach for another 2 years.
“I am excited to take the reins and see what the girls will be able to accomplish,” Sola said. “One main goal is to foster an environment that encourages growth and learning as a player and person.”
Alexander Day has been an assistant coach in previous years alongside last year’s head coach, Adam Sanchez.
“I feel good about the coach change,” said senior Kai Bergeson. “I know Zander; he’s a good coach and was an assistant coach previously, and I like him.”
Players are looking forward to games, bonding together with teammates, and all the accomplishments that the upcoming season will bring.
