2021 Golden Globes successfully hosts celebs on the red carpet and at home

The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards took place on February 28th, but it was managed a bit differently this year. The ceremony was mostly virtual, but looks were still being served by our favorite television and movie stars. Most celebrities were showing off their astonishing garments from home while maintaining the chic dynamic of the red carpet.

Take “One Night in Miami” star Regina King, for example. She showed out with a sparkly, silver, gold, and black dress from Louis Vuitton. While her “red carpet entrance” was from her kitchen to living room, her neighborly act of staying home did not go unappreciated. “Promising Young Woman” actress, Carey Mulligan, displayed her pink silk Prada gown in her hotel in London. Other stars who dressed up at home include Elle Fanning, Laverne Cox, and Viola Davis.

The actual red carpet was set up, but of course, attendance was a little down. Stars such as Tiffany Haddish, who rocked a strapless, chainmail dress designed by Alberta Ferreti.  Jamie Lee Curtis showed up in an astonishing yellow dress from Alex Perry, along with a jewelry set designed by Cathy Waterman. Kevin Bacon decided to go simple with a black and white tuxedo from Dior.

The award ceremony itself was also an entertaining event. Chloé Zhao’s “Nomadland” won the Golden Globe for Best Picture Drama. Zhao also won the award for Best Director Motion Picture, as well as nominations for Best Actress and Best Screenplay Motion Picture.  Andra Day won Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama in “The United States vs. Billie Holliday,” where she played an outstanding Billie Holliday. Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed at 43 last year, was named Best Actor for his dramatic performance in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” Daniel Kaluuya, best known for his lead role in Jordan Peele’s “Get Out” was named Best Supporting Actor for his electrifying performance in “Judas and the Black Messiah.”

Scott Frank’s “The Queen’s Gambit” was titled Best Television Motion Picture. The lead actress, Ana Taylor-Joy, who played Beth Harmon, received the award for Best Actress in a Television Motion Picture. Mark Ruffalo, better known for playing The Hulk in the Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, won Best Actor in a Television Series in “I Know This Much is True.” Gillian Anderson won her second Golden Globe for being the Best Supporting Actor in “The Crown.”

We could go on and recognize the many outstanding actors and actresses who were very deserving for their awards, but there’s too many to name in one story. The 2021 Golden Globes was definitely a never before seen affair, but overall, it was a smooth and successful ceremony.
