In Omaha, Nebraska, the Museum of Shadows stands in the Old Market. Owned by Nate Raterman, a demonologist, and Kaleigh Raterman, a psychic medium, it is a one of a kind attraction that offers tours year round.
Kaleigh’s interest in the paranormal began in her early childhood. She would dream about future events. Her husband Nate was a skeptic until he saw a ghost himself and witnessed chairs moving and doors slamming.
Nate and Kaleigh began to document their experiences and collect artifacts. One day, their collection grew large enough to start their own museum as husband and wife. Their museum contains 3,000 haunted artifacts.
The museum is open from 2-10pm, Wednesday-Sunday. Admission is $25 to view the two floors of haunted artifacts featuring: dolls, ouija boards, animal carcasses used in rituals, and many other artifacts with “demon attachments.” However viewers may pay an extra $10 fee to participate in the “sit challenge.”
The sit challenge is a voluntary challenge where a visitor is brought to the basement and surrounded by the Ratermans’ most sinister artifacts and challenged to spend 10 minutes in the dark. Following the 10:00 p.m. closing time, the museum offers 2-hour ghost hunts for a $40 fee.
This museum has donations from across the world and is an attraction with great ratings and reviews, and has even hosted weddings.
