This year’s show choir Lincoln Volume made it to finals for the first time in recent history. They won first place in their division and 6th place overall in the competition. They performed their setlist which is “Breathe,” “World on Fire,” “Tiny Voice,” “Overcomer,” and “Come Alive”.
“It was really exciting making it to finals, we beat a Des Moines school, that’s never happened,” senior Riley Schmitt said. “It was really fun, everyone was really excited.”
Singers practice every morning, five days a week before school to make sure their performances and songs are perfect. They have eight total competitions/showcases, ranging from Council Bluffs all the way to Hinton, Iowa, which is three hours away.
“It was really exciting, a lot of people cried because it was the first time in forever or even in AL history that we made finals,” junior Zoey Murry said.
Singers feel like this really brought the team together overall, although they had their differences this helped them connect together.
Mr. Nick Andersen has been teaching both choir and show choir for 12 years.
“I would say the most rewarding aspect of teaching is seeing the students succeed and watching their growth and development,” Andersen said. “Not just in their skills and abilities but also as human beings.”
