During the Halloween season, many have the opportunity to see the phantasms lurking in the night. Many choose to further the spine-tingling experiences offered in the weeks leading up to Halloween. One thing people enjoy doing most is seeing haunted houses for an extra-thrilling encounter with the other side. Gasps fill the air as the door creaks open, and blood-curdling screams flood the room. You confront the horrific world of shadowy, ghoulish beings, as a cackle travels down the hall towards you and you feel the adrenaline push you forward into the howl of the night.
Unfortunately, a fan-favorite haunted house in Omaha closed down after being in business for 38 years. In a Facebook post made on August 31 they confirmed the closing. The founder of the building, Wealy Sealy, passed away last fall, so it was no surprise that the building might close. ALHS student Arlo Kindred shared her feelings about the closing.
“Mystery Manor has always been my favorite haunted house,” Kindred said. “I go with my friends every year so It is very upsetting to hear it has closed.”
Since the manor was nearby in Omaha, many students are sad the house has closed, but they aren’t the only ones that feel this way.
The mystery manor holders appear to be very sad to close their doors as well. The Facebook post said, “Thank you for all the love and support of this small Omaha business for 38 years.”
Creighton University purchased the building, though we don’t know what the planned use of it is yet. It’s safe to say no matter what it’s used for it won’t be haunting students anymore.
