As Halloween approaches, trunk-or-treat events are becoming increasingly popular at schools and restaurants. If you’re interested in attending one, you may want to check out the event hosted by Quaker Steak and Lube, located at 3320 Mid America Drive. The event, which takes place on Oct. 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., features a costume contest for children with 10 prizes to be won. In addition, there will be a range of activities available, including face painting, as well as a competition for the best-decorated trunk.
“There will be a costume competition where contestants enter with their costumes and a winner is picked at the end of the night. The prize is a 20% discount on a meal. There will also be a chance to walk around and see all the classic cars that come every year, they do a drawing for best car decorations as well. Inside the restaurant, you can see all of our car-themed Halloween decorations and even the employees dress up,” said Haley Brazier, an employee at Quaker Steak and Lube as well as a member of AL Echoes.
“Mostly it stays the same as far as events, but it’s super fun to see all the new costumes and decorations. A couple of years ago we had our mascot, a chicken, walking around and handing out candy to the kids…” This event has happened annually for quite a few years, and many people are excited about it this year. “…I’m personally really excited about getting to dress up at work, I also really like the car decorations and seeing what cars win Some of my favorite things about that night are the car owners explaining the backstory to their cars and how important they are to them. It’s like looking at a piece of history. I love the way the parking lot looks like a time machine…there are many possibilities to hang out with friends or family as well, and since the restaurant is fairly big we hold big parties for up to about 60 people. So there are so many things you could do as a community in this one place.” Brazier said.
Many other employees are also anticipating this event.
“Costume competition and prize is a pink bicycle, as well as fun snacks for the kids,” said Tammie Bothwell, an employee at Quaker Steak and Lube.
“It has been pretty much the same since it started with a few different costume contestants,” Bothwell said.”Events like these are absolutely good for the community because they help people connect in ways other places wouldn’t provide.”
If you are looking for a fun activity to do with your kids this Halloween, you should definitely check out this great opportunity. It provides a chance for both parents and children to have some spooky fun together, making it an experience worth exploring.
