Council Bluffs’ Winterfest has been an annual event occurring at the historic location of Bayliss Park on Friday, November 17. While it may be cold and frosty outside; Winterfest has added the warm and cozy seasonal spirit that CB needs! Winterfest consists of many fun activities for children to be involved in, and even Santa Claus shows up to add to the holiday cheer.
Some of the activities within Winterfest include the famous lighting ceremony in which the park hangs Christmas lights around the atmosphere, and on a countdown, the lights turn on and glow throughout the park for the rest of the Christmas season. Another big hit involves face painting, along with some free hot cocoa, who wouldn’t want that?!
While all of these activities are amazing, it doesn’t stop there. This year, a few new additions have been added to the fest. For example, this year there will be a new addition of horse and carriage rides. Along with that, there will also be snow created to give that winter effect that we have been longing for!
If it is too cold outside, you also have the option of visiting the nearby museum where there will be holiday activities and arts and crafts inside. There are so many possibilities within Winterfest and they have everything you can hope for, there is something for everyone.
Along with this, there will also be food trucks so make sure to save room for the scrumptious food that will be sold all around the park. There will be different types and cuisines of all sorts.
As you walk through the park, you may also notice that there will be real-life reindeer taking part in the event. This is sure to be a kick for the children that will leave them feeling even more magical in this winter wonderland.
