After teaching orchestra at Abraham Lincoln High School for 4 years before teaching vocal music classes for the last 7 years, Mr. Elmer Ellefson is leaving the building in pursuit of a new experience. He is ready to take on a new challenge as a coordinator for the district.
“At the end of this school year I will assume the role TLC K-12 Visual & Performing Arts Curriculum Specialist for the 2024-2025 season,” said Ellefson. “In this role, I will serve the Art, Drama, and Music teachers as a coordinator and coach.”
Junior Lilly Ozzello is happy to have had Ellefson as her choir teacher for the past 3 years and will miss his passion for music.
“I will miss Mr. Ellefson,” said Ozzello. “He’s an extremely kind teacher who really cares about his students. He taught me to be confident when singing and to express myself through my voice, which landed me numerous roles in theater.”
Sophomore Caitlyn Adkins is also grateful for Ellefson’s teaching throughout her first half of high school.
“He’s a really good teacher,” said Adkins. “He makes the class so much fun and embraces everyone’s talents. He helped me grow as a performer and as a student.”
Ellefson hopes to continue to make significant impacts on the lives of students and their education.
“In my years of teaching experience, I have gained a great deal in many different roles,” said Ellefson. “It is my hope to take the knowledge and experience I have and provide meaningful support to teachers that will translate to greater learning in the classroom.”
