Another election, came and went in the blink of an eye. It can be hard to follow everything that happened, so here is a recap of the 3 largest races.
The main thing Americans care about is that Donald Trump won the presidency with 312 electoral votes. With a startling steep early lead, it’s not much of a surprise. Trump will be the oldest person to hold the office of president, and the only one with 34 felony charges. He’s had four years to build for his next term, while Vice President Harris has had only a few months since her nomination at the DNC. Still, 226 electoral votes are admirable for a candidate whose campaign lasted just over 100 days.
The Senate has flipped to a Republican majority, holding 52 seats in the House. They have not been in the majority since 2021, but gaining 3 seats in this election changed that.
The House is now in Republican control, holding 215 seats. They lost 7 but gained 6 seats, defending the majority they won in 2022. Currency not every race has been called, and with Democrats at 206 seats and 218 needed for the majority, it could swing in their favor.
