Imagine a classroom where students can request to leave without raising their hands. Online bathroom passes make it very simple to be less disruptive and help classroom management.
The main purpose is to track students and make it more efficient for teachers to make sure that students get back to class to continue learning.
“Well, the school has always had passes, so I guess it’s to help see where students are, we need some kind of system to keep track of that,” said assistant principal and athletic director Jeff Novotny. “It also gives teachers some feedback on if students have really followed the pass, now you can check in and check out, it’s very efficient.”
Some students say that it’s irritating when they have to use their computer in order to use the restroom.
“I feel like it’s so unnecessary,” said student Lukas George. “It’s important for teachers to know where you’re at, but it’s also a pain in the butt to pull out your chrome every time you need to go to the bathroom.”
Even though ehallpass can be a bit annoying for students it still makes it easier to keep track of students and when they’re leaving the classroom.
“I think it was made to be easier on teachers so they can track students and they aren’t just roaming around,” said student Joandy Perez-Rangel. “I think teachers don’t trust students because they mess around in the bathrooms.”
Ehallpass can be very efficient if everyone uses it how they are supposed to and when they are supposed to.
“I think ehallpass is great, but like most things, it’s only good if everybody uses it,” said Novotny. “It’s a very effective way that accomplishes what we need. If not everybody uses it, then it defeats the purpose of its benefits.”
