This is Part 4, and the last part, of the series.
GOD is a response to FEAR. He chooses WEAKNESS and to follow god. He is breaking the curse. He’s telling us he is living through FEAR. The FEAR of GOD. But what if he wasn’t meant to choose it waw us.
DUCKWORTH is a story of two men, one named Anthony and one named Ducky. Anthony was the oldest of 7, a very respected family. Anthony chose to sell drugs. One day he was approached by cops. They suspected him for illegal activity but told him he seems like a good kid, maybe he could be a confidential informant. But Anthony was loyal and said no and just went back to KFC with his friends. At this KFC a man named Ducky worked the window, a very nice social man. He was from the streets but had a son and was now working to send his son to college. But Anthony needed money too. He planned on robbing the KFC, but Ducky knew he was going to. Not only did he come from the streets too Anthony had already robbed the place before. Ducky had to think of a way to stop him so instead of fighting he just gave him extra food for free every time he went through. It worked. Anthony didn’t even rob the place and became fond of Ducky, Ducky was Kendrick’s father. And twenty years down the road Kendrick signed with Anthonys label TOP DAWG ENTERTAINMENT. Ducky and Kendrick entered a recording studio to see Anthony there. They couldn’t help but think if Ducky didn’t give him free food and Anthony robbed the place killing Ducky, Anthony could have been arrested and never started his label and Kendrick never would have been a rapper and went down the rabbit hole of crime, and death that he barely avoided.
DUCKWORTH breaks the curse of Deuteronomy, Ducky and Anthony solved the problem without acts of WICKEDNESS and that decision made Kendrick the rapper because they broke the curse. And Just like that Kendrick chooses to live in God’s name and in WEAKNESS. But it doesn’t end there. We hear a gunshot and then the whole album in reverse and then you hear one of the first lines of the album “I was taking a walk the other day.”
If you play this entire album backwards starting with DUCKWORTH and then ending with BLOOD you get an entirely different story. In this story you hear about what Kendricks life would have been if his dad Ducky would have been killed. Giving you the two themes WICKEDNESS or WEAKNESS. The album played forward is Kendricks normal life starting Wicked and choosing to go to Weakness but played reversed, he starts in WEAKNESS and chooses to go to WICKEDNESS.
