Endometriosis, a condition that deserves attention occurs when the endometrial tissue grows on the outside of the uterus, this results in unbearable pain. Endometriosis can spread to nearby organs acting quickly, it has been found in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, bowels, bladder, lungs, diaphragm, kidneys, and in rare cases the brain.
“Endometriosis affects an estimated 200 million women worldwide and approximately one in 10 women in the U.S. It strikes women from all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. There is no known cause of the disease and no cure…because of the lack of education about endometriosis, pain or other symptoms are often dismissed as “part of being a woman” or misdiagnosed. This often causes a delay of a decade or more in receiving the proper diagnosis of endometriosis,” according to the article Endometriosis: Defining it, Recognizing it, and Treating it.
These studies consisted of rating a woman’s body on a scale of 1 to 10, the first study of a condition that has been around for centuries cared more about a woman’s beauty than her health. Most of these studies have recently been redacted.
“The women taking part in the study had not given their consent to be judged for their attractiveness and did not know this was happening as part of their medical consultations,” the article ‘Disgusting’ study rating attractiveness of women with endometriosis retracted by medical journal reports.
Endometrial tissue was discovered outside of the uterine wall in the 17th century, now in the 21st century you would think we’d have a cure or at least a cause for the pain; however, we do not. What we do have is countless studies about how having the condition is hard on male partners, and how attractive women with this condition are.
