Warning: spoilers ahead!
After waiting for two years, we finally have the first part of the finale to Stranger Things–Season 5. There is so much that has happened within the first four episodes including El going into hiding, Robin, Steve, Nancy, and Jonathan opening the WSQK station. Holly getting taken, finding Max. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler are in comas, Will gets powers and so much more.
In the first episode Robin announces her 500th broadcast, meaning they’ve been in lockdown for almost 2 years. Along with the new radio station we get a few hints as to possible characters that might die. The first episode of part 2 is called “Shock Jock” which is another term for a radio person. I think it will be Robin because she had a scheduled date for Enzo’s with Vicky which is like a teaser from the writers that person will die. Another reason I believe she will die is because she has gotten a lot more screen time and of course the writers want us to love a character then kill them. My final reason for believing Robin will die is that when she first joined the cast she said she wanted her character to die at some point.
However, there are also teasers for Steve possibly dying including in the first episode when he goes up the radio tower and is told to turn off the electricity so could he possibly forget to turn it off in a panic and run up there? Another suspicion with the tower is that there will be Demo’s at the radio station and to protect everyone else Steve will lead the Demo to the top then have someone at the bottom turn the voltage back on; killing Steve and the Demo while protecting everyone else.
Max has found a safe place in the Upside Down: a cave; which is one of Henry’s many memories, but he is terrified to go in. There are a lot of speculations as to why. There is a broadway adaption of the prequel to Stranger Things which is called “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” in this we learn that Henry got his powers by accidently going into a cave, vanishing for 12 hours and coming back with strange abilities and an unseen blood type. This is traumatic for him because after coming out of the cave he can’t remember anything from before.
Another theory I love is Vecna trying to create a worm hole. In episode 3 we see Erica in science class learning about wormholes, in this explanation there is a drawing on the board which is very similar to the image Will paints in the barn in episode 4 “The Sorcerer” this is connected to the kids because there appears to be twelve spots in this image which is also the amount of numbers on a clock, like in season 4.
But why would Vecna want to create a worm hole? My guess is he wants to go back to when he was in high school. When Max is going through his memories we see through his eyes a sneak peak in his eyes of when he was in highschool. In this they highlight a school play advertisement making him the lead character. The other people in this play include Hopper, Karen and Ted Wheeler, and Alan Munson (who I assume is Eddie’s father). Joyce is also in it as a director. The only character we don’t know from this image is Patty Newt, is it possible Henry liked Patty and something happened to her making him want to go back in time to save her?
It definitely isn’t a coincidence that all of the parents of the main character are in the same play as Henry. With the exception of Lucas and Dustin. Another huge thing in this poster is the date. It’s set for Nov. 6, and the year is covered but in season one Will was kidnapped on November 6th so could Vecna have had it planned out the whole time that he was going back to that night to stop whatever happened? We also know the finale will be set on November 6th as the whole season is over the course of three days and because Lucas was concerned in the first few episodes of how it was getting really close to the anniversary of Will being kidnapped.
Could Vecna’s whole plan over the course of these 5 years be going back in time to prevent whatever happened on the night of that play? The whole theme of the play Oklahoma is creating a new community through love, determination and rivalry. So maybe Vecna wants a new reality.
The next part comes out on December 25th so until then we all wait impatiently to see what happens to our favorite characters.
